The first thing that I remember about Kent is his smile and his shiny eyes. The second thing that I remember is that he was the first person I ran into at our 10th reunion. I had not visited Williams as an alumnus in 9 years, preferring to pop up at irregular times of the year. Not only that, I was there with my reluctant spouse and had lost a considerable amount of weight in the intervening years. Would people recognize me? Was I welcome? Needless to say, I was slightly nervous. Well, the warm immediate embrace of Kent Wosepka and Pete Herbsman melted my nerves. And yes, of course I’d love to dance (as we do often had as undergrads!). Fast forward several years with the advent and ubiquitous nature of social media and I became active friends with both Kent and Lara (his ex-wife and high school friend of mine). I watched his kids grow from afar and we commented on each other’s posts. Closely following his grand trip and upcoming nuptials, I was looking forward to seeing him in June. Alas, he did what he did best, biking his heart out then saving 8+ people with his organs. He will be sorely missed.
