  1. I just learnt of Dan’s passing today. I am so sorry to hear the news, he was a lovely person. The world lost someone special. We were very good friends at Williams and for a number of years after before parenting took over our lives . I relate to all the lines in his obituary and his friends and colleagues personal memories of him. He was kind, hard working, quiet and very loyal. He took great pride in his squash game and I recall he wanted to play squash for the USA in the Olympics. In fact, he was miffed that the Olympics didn’t include squash, I think he took it as a bit of personal affront. I am reminded of the trips we took to see each other in Washington DC, Central Illinois, Chicago, the Cape, Boston and Albany. We could talk for hours or just sit quietly in the same space. He was that kind of friend.

  2. So sorry to learn of Dan’s untimely passing. We went to high school together and shared many classes there; we saw each other less at Williams–even though it was smaller than our high school–but shared some English courses. It was not surprising to read of his continued quest for learning throughout his life.

  3. He was a fine friend and classmate who was often a good racquet sports buddy as well. It’s sad when a good person like that dies so early.

  4. Dan was one of my best friends at Williams. More importantly, he continued to be one of my best friends for the last 40 years after graduating.

He was brilliant, modest, loving towards his friends and family and a true gentleman.

He was a caring friend for me when I was quite ill recently and always seemed to be there for his family, friends and colleagues and his clients in his law practice.

He was a rare person, and I will miss him greatly.

May his memory always be a blessing.
